Recommendation:  That the Common Council consider a motion to award the Howell Avenue sidewalk project to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, J&A Pohl, at an estimated cost of $210,976.60 (Project No. 06012)

Background:  The Engineering Department prepared the plans and specifications for the project and the work was advertised. This project is part of the CIP Committee’s plan to have sidewalk along both sides of S. Howell Avenue.  There are four segments of sidewalk that are proposed for construction.

1. Along the West side of S. Howell Avenue from W. Fairfield Drive to W. Ryan Road

2. Along the East side of S. Howell Avenue from E. Ryan Road to E. Parkway Estates Drive

3. Along the West side of S. Howell Avenue at 8471 S. Howell Avenue

4. Along the East side of S. Howell Avenue from E. Groveland Drive to 200 feet North of E. Susan Drive

Three bidders submitted the following:

Fiscal Impact:  The City has been budgeting money for this project for several years.  There are sufficient funds available for this project.
