City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date:
Item No.:
Recommendation: That the Common Council approve the proposed annual Agreement for School Resource Officer Services for the 2006-2007 school year.
Background: The City of Oak Creek and the Oak Creek/Franklin School District have had an Agreement for School Resource Officer Services in place since the program was instituted in 1999. The initial Agreement was a three-year contract with all subsequent renewal Agreements reviewed and signed annually. The Agreement provides for two police officers to serve as School Resource Officers at the Oak Creek High School and Oak Creek East and West Middle Schools with all costs for wages and benefits split equally between the City of Oak Creek and the Oak Creek/Franklin School District. In addition the Agreement defines the administrative issues associated with the program.
The language of the Agreement is the same as previous years and has been previously reviewed and approved by the City Attorney. In addition, the Oak Creek/Franklin Joint School District has already agreed to and signed the renewal Agreement for the 2006-2007 school year.
Fiscal Impact: Salaries will be covered by funds in the amount of $190,710 allocated in the Police Department’s 2006 and 2007 Full-Time Salaries budget account. The Oak Creek/Franklin School District will reimburse the City of Oak Creek in the amount of $95,355, one half of the total cost, for their share of the costs of the program.
