Recommendation:  To ratify a recommendation from the Personnel Committee to approve a Side Letter of Agreement with AFSCME Local 133 regarding the newly created Fabricator/Welder/Service Technician position.

Background:  The Common Council previously approved the creation and filling of a Fabricator/Welder/Service Technician position within the Street Department.  The recruitment is complete and the position was filled with an internal candidate. 

The union correctly alerted us to the requirement to list this new position within the recently ratified contract.  The Personnel Committee recommends the position be listed directly after, and follow the same pay grades, as Mechanic II.

Fiscal Impact:  There is no fiscal impact in approving the side letter of agreement and inserting the language into the new Local 133 contract.
