RESOLUTION OF COMMENDATION

TO

DEBORAH L. SCHIER

 

WHEREAS, DEBORAH L. SCHIER will retire from her position as Community Public Health Administrator on April 24, 2006, after 19 years and 5 months of dedicated full-time service to the City of Oak Creek Health Department; and  

 

WHEREAS, DEBORAH L. SCHIER also served as a Public Health Nurse for the City of Oak Creek in a full-time capacity for 2 years, and part-time for 4 years and 9 months prior to becoming Community Public Health Administrator; and

 

WHEREAS, during her years of service, DEBORAH L. SCHIER has performed her duties admirably, looking out for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Oak Creek; and

 

WHEREAS, DEBORAH L. SCHIER has led the community in dedicated service for the changing role of Public Health throughout the last 25 years; and

 

WHEREAS, DEBORAH L. SCHIER represented the City of Oak Creek by serving with the Salvation Army Oak Creek Corps Advisory Council as Chairperson of the Social Services Committee and member of the Finance Committee; and

 

WHEREAS, DEBORAH L. SCHIER was recognized for exceptional commitment and outstanding service to the community of older adults through the South Milwaukee-Oak Creek Interfaith program, a neighborhood Outreach Program; and

 

WHEREAS, DEBORAH L. SCHIER was a member of the Protect All Kids Immunization Coalition, serving as Chairperson of the Education/Outreach Workgroup and member of the Public Relations Committee; and

 

WHEREAS, DEBORAH L. SCHIER represented the City of Oak Creek as Secretary of the Southeast Wisconsin Association of Local Health Departments and Boards (WAHLDAB), and as President in 1996 and 1997; and

 

WHEREAS, DEBORAH L. SCHIER served with the Oak Creek Chamber of Commerce for 6 years, and as Joint Chair of the Community Health Expos for 10 years since its inception; and

 

WHEREAS, DEBORAH L. SCHIER was instrumental in the Cudahy-Oak Creek-South Milwaukee-St. Francis Healthier Communities Initiative. The Initiative was a program striving to improve the quality of community life by identifying each community’s strength, assets and capacities.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Oak Creek for and on behalf of the citizens of the City of Oak Creek, that sincere gratitude and appreciation be extended to DEBORAH L. SCHIER for her many years of dedicated and faithful service to the City of Oak Creek and the Health Department, and that the best wishes for good health and happiness be extended to DEBORAH L. SCHIER on her retirement.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting and that the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a suitable copy thereof to DEBORAH L. SCHIER.
