Recommendation: That the Common Council accepts the recommendation of the Street Superintendent and extends our current agreement with Waste Management, which will cover the solid waste disposal fees for the next three (3) years.
Background: The City of Oak Creek is currently in the 5th year of our current 2nd addendum to our original agreement dated January 1, 1995.
The Street Department is very satisfied with all the services that the Metropolitan Landfill has provided us (disposal of solid waste, tires, concrete, asphalt, demolition waste and yard waste). Waste Management of Southeast Wisconsin has agreed to amend and extend the current term of the landfill agreement January 1, 1995, which expires on December 31, 2006 as follows:

$22.80 per ton in 2002
$23.45 per ton in 2003
$24.10 per ton in 2004
$24.75 per ton in 2005
$25.40 per ton in 2006 $25.40 per ton in 2007
$26.05 per ton in 2008
$26.70 per ton in 2009
*Disposal Rate for Street Sweepings $8.52 per ton
*Compost Rates for Yard Waste $28.35 ton for grass and leaves
$37.41 per ton for stumps and brush
Disposal Rate for Concrete No Charge if less than 2 inches and
Free of metal and non-contaminated
Disposal Rate for Asphalt No charge if less than 2 inches and
Free of metal and non-contaminated
(i.e., asbestos)
*Disposal Rate for Demolition Waste $25.90 per ton
*Tire Recycling $102.04 per ton
*The above rates shall be subject to a three percent (3%) increase on the first day of each year.
All other terms of the original agreement remain in full force and effect.
Fiscal Impact: The 2006 budget for solid waste funds are $230,000.00. Future funding will have to be provided for each remaining year of the contract.
