Recommendation:  That the Common Council:

a.   Acknowledge execution of an addendum to the 2004-05 agreement between   Milwaukee County and the City of Oak Creek for the provision of paramedic      services; and

b.   Acknowledge execution of an addendum to the 2005 agreement between Milwaukee County and the City of Oak Creek for the provision of medical control of Basic Life Support (BLS) services.

 

Background:  The contract before the Council at this time is the consensus document worked out between the Fire Chiefs and Milwaukee County with the financial formula as agreed to by the ICC. 

 

In the previous contracts, the City of Oak Creek had a separate contract that had different terms from the other agencies.  Under this year’s agreement, the City of Oak Creek has the same contract as the other units in the paramedic system.  The plan for 2007 is presently in negotiation, with the financial formula undetermined at this time.

 

Fiscal Impact:  The funding under the contract is a mix of guaranteed funding from the County and a percentage share of the billing revenue by the paramedic system. The exact amount of the funding is dependent upon the collections.  Our funding is a partial share in 2004, a larger share in 2005, and a full share in 2006.  With the increased share and an increase in projected billing, revenue should increase.
