Recommendation: That the Common Council adopts Resolution No. 10608-022006, a resolution accepting the recommendations of the CIP Committee to authorize the S. Howell Avenue sidewalk improvement projects listed below (Project No. 06012) (3rd & 5th Aldermanic Districts).
Background: On February 7, 2006, the CIP Committee discussed the incomplete sidewalk segments along S. Howell Avenue and recommended the following sidewalk segments for construction under public contract. The Engineering Department would prepare the plans, specifications and bid documents. Since the volume of sidewalk is high, we expect to receive favorable bids. It is hoped that the additional segment can be added.

Fiscal Impact: Currently, there is approximately $136,470 in the “Unspecified New Segment Sidewalk” control account left over from past projects, and $75,000 budgeted for in the 2006 CIP, for a total of about $211,470 available for this year’s sidewalk program. These funds will be transferred to new project number 06012.

WHEREAS, in the judgment of the Common Council of the City of Oak Creek, it is deemed to be expedient and necessary and in the best interest of the City and the property affected thereby that the City proceed with the projects as follows:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of Oak Creek as follows:
1. That the aforementioned improvements be installed.
2. That payment for said improvements will be made from funds in the “Unspecified New Segment Sidewalk” control account and CIP funds reserved in the 2006 budget.
3. That the City Engineer is hereby authorized to approve final plans and specifications upon their completion.
4. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for said improvements and that she shall advertise for such bids in the official newspaper, the Western Builder and the Daily Reporter.
