Recommendation: That the Common Council adopt Resolution No. 10719-121906, a Resolution of Appreciation to ROBERT D. KUEHN, retiring Distribution Manager.
Background: ROBERT D. KUEHN served the City of Oak Creek Water and Sewer Utility for 32 years and 4 months, and his career dictates that he be honored with this Resolution of Appreciation.

RESOLUTION NO. 10719-121906
RESOLUTION OF APRECIATION
TO
ROBERT D. KUEHN
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN began his employment with the City of Oak Creek on September 3, 1974, as a full-time Utility Service Worker; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN responded to water main breaks in the early morning, late evening, and weekend hours and in inclement weather and read meters on foot, flushed fire hydrants, climbed and inspected water towers, and spent countless hours maintaining lift stations; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN was promoted to Senior Utility Service Worker on October 4, 1976; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN was promoted to Field Operations Supervisor (later re-named Distribution Manager) on October 1, 1989; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN was instrumental in ensuring that the Oak Creek Water and Sewer Utility become one of the first water utilities in the state to use cathodic protection to mitigate corrosion in the water pipes; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN was an integral part of the conversion of 6,000 manual read meters to radio read meters; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN received The Certificate in Supervisory Management from UW-Milwaukee Outreach program; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN was a member of the City’s safety committee; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN was a member of the technical advisory team responsible for creating the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) 2010 Facilities Plan; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN was a member of the American Waterworks Association (AWWA) and was an active member of the Wisconsin Water Association (WWA) having served as Chairman of the Safety Committee from 1996 to 1998, was a member of the Distribution Committee since its inception in 2000 where training has been provided for 1,000 operators throughout the state of Wisconsin; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN believed that our customers were always the top priority and treated them with the utmost courtesy and professionalism; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN has been a valuable employee during his years of dedicated service by virtue of his self-sacrifice and many tireless hours responding to the calls of its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, ROBERT D. KUEHN has retired from his position of Distribution Manager with the Oak Creek Water and Sewer Utility, effective January 13, 2007, after completing 32 years and 4 months of full-time service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Oak Creek, for and on behalf of the citizens of the City of Oak Creek, that sincere gratitude and appreciation be extended to ROBERT D. KUEHN for his years of dedicated and faithful service to the City of Oak Creek and the Water and Sewer Utility, and that best wishes for good health and happiness be extended to ROBERT D. KUEHN and his family for future years.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting and that the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a suitable copy thereof to ROBERT D. KUEHN.
