City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date: December 5, 2006
Item No.:
Recommendation: That the Council adopt Resolution No. 10715-120506 supporting the Kenosha, Racine and Milwaukee (KRM) commuter link station area planning program in Oak Creek.
Background: The City is being requested to adopt a resolution in support of the Kenosha, Racine and Milwaukee (KRM) station area planning program. KRM is the acronym for the commuter rail extension from Kenosha through to Milwaukee.
Representatives will be present at the Council meeting to make a presentation regarding the KRM study, and its impact on Oak Creek. Copies of the draft documents are being provided to you in advance of the meeting.
Fiscal Impact: The potential for development surrounding a commuter rail station, in conjunction with the development of the lakefront would have a significant long-term positive fiscal impact on the City.
While the adoption of this resolution does not commit the City financially, it is likely that the communities benefiting from the ultimate extension of rail service may be asked to make some form of a financial commitment to the project in the future.
