City of Oak Creek

Common Council Report

Meeting Date12-19-06

Item No.:

Recommendation:  For the Oak Creek City Health Officer to compose a Letter of Intent to both the Department of Health and Family Services and the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection in preparation to become an agent for both entities.

Background:  During the 2007 Budget process, the Common Council approved utilizing vacant nursing hours for the development of a new Registered Sanitarian (RS) position.  The intent of becoming an Agent for the Department of Health and Family Services was considered.  There was also discussion related to the possibility of becoming an Agent for the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, however at that time, the Health Officer did not have any specific numbers.

On December 13, 2006, the Board of Health unanimously approved the Oak Creek Health Department to become an Agent for the Department of Health and Family Services and an Agent for the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, once the RS has been hired.

Fiscal Impact:  The potential revenue from both programs is approximately $29,229 in 2007.
