CONGRATULATIONS ON THE

50^TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE LADIES AUXILIARY CHARTER

AMVETS POST #60

WHEREAS, “AMVETS” stands for “American Veterans”, the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary is made up of women who have joined forces to accomplish many goals and projects.  The primary focus of their service revolves around their relationship to an individual who has honorably served our country in military service; and

WHEREAS, the Ladies Auxiliary of the AMVETS Post #60 is celebrating 50 years of service to veterans and the community with a banquet and awards ceremony at Classic Lanes Oak Creek on Saturday, October 8, 2005; and

WHEREAS, AMVETS Post #60 Ladies Auxiliary, among many service-oriented activities in this area, is involved in many worthy causes that help the smallest child to the oldest of adults.  Service to the Veteran and their family is of primary importance to their membership.  The Auxiliary helps by making financial contributions, visiting VA Medical Centers, volunteering in hospitals, providing gifts and parties, and participating in legislation that benefits the Veteran.  Among their 2005 accomplishments were support to underprivileged children by providing backpacks and school supplies; camp for kids; purchased jackets, hats and gloves as well as donations of new and used clothing and games to Children’s Centers.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Oak Creek do hereby congratulate the Ladies Auxiliary of AMVETS Post #60 on their 50^th anniversary and gratefully acknowledge their dedicated service to veterans and the community.

Authorized by the City of Oak Creek Common Council on this 20^th day of September, 2005 to be

presented to the Ladies Auxiliary of AMVETS Post #60 on October 8, 2005.
