Recommendation:  That the Common Council approves the request of the Library Board and the recommendation of the Personnel Committee to fill a part time Library Public Services Aide I position.

Background:  There is currently a vacancy for a Library Public Services Aide I position. This is a permanent part time position of approximately 20 hours per week or 1,040 hours per year. This position is responsible for staffing the circulation desk, registering new patrons, checking materials in and out, collecting fines and other fees, etc.

Fiscal Impact:  The new employee will start at the beginning step of a five step range, $10.27 per hour. Funds are available in the 2005 library budget.
