COUNCIL PROCLAMATION NO. 05-14

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE

OAK CREEK KNIGHTS BASEBALL TEAM 2005

WHEREAS, the Oak Creek Knights Baseball Team became the 2005 State Champions, winning the WIAA State Tournament held in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on July 28, 2005, by defeating Ashland with a score of 11-8; and

WHEREAS, the Oak Creek Knights Baseball Team, headed by first-time coach Scott Holler, was victorious over the South Milwaukee Rockets with a score of 5-3 in the semifinals, and the Cudahy Packers with a winning score of 10-0 in the championship game at the WIAA Sectional on July 22^nd , thereby taking their 29-6 record to the WIAA State Tournament; and

WHEREAS, the Oak Creek Knights Baseball Team won an unprecedented third straight state summer championship, becoming the first “threepeat” winner since Nekoosa’s “threepeat” title from 1982 to 1984; and

WHEREAS, the Oak Creek Knights Baseball Team has also supported one another, demonstrated courage and determination, during a very difficult and emotional time.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Oak Creek, for and on behalf of its citizens, do hereby wish to extend their congratulations to the Oak Creek Knights Baseball Team for winning the WIAA State Baseball Championship for the third straight year.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed to provide a suitable copy of this proclamation to the Oak Creek Knights Baseball Team.
