Recommendation:

That the Common Council adopt Ordinance No. 2362, An Ordinance Amending Section 6 of Ordinance 2333, Establishing Wage Rates for Miscellaneous Employees—Acting City Administrator Categories.

 

Background:

At the 07/18/05 meeting, the Common Council approved a staff proposal to provide interim City Administrator services by assigning three current employees to acting positions as follows: 

 

Current Employee                   Assignment                                                     Additional Rate

City Clerk/Comptroller                        Acting City Administrator                                     $8.00/hr.

Finance Manager                    Acting Assistant City Administrator-Financial      $8.00/hr.

Deputy Clerk                           Acting Assistant City Administrator-Personnel   $5.00/hr.

Ordinance 2362 changes the non-union salary ordinance to allow for the payment of the additional hourly rate for each currently employed individual who is acting in an Administrator capacity.  This additional hourly amount will be paid for regular work hours of 40 hours per week until a new permanent City Administrator is named.  Hours paid for vacation, holiday, overtime, sick-time, etc., would be paid at the employee’s current regular salary rate, not including the additional Acting rate.

 

Fiscal Impact

The estimated cost is $17,375 for an estimated time period of four months. This cost would be covered by the unexpended funds in Acct. 42, Administrator’s office 2005 budget.
