Recommendation: That the Common Council move to select three (3) finalists from those firms who have submitted a proposal to provide professional placement services in the search for a City Administrator, and to invite those three finalists to be present to make a presentation to the Common Council at a future meeting.
Background:
The City is currently without a City Administrator. At a meeting on 06/20/05, the Common Council voted to proceed to fill the vacant position by soliciting bids from vendors to provide recruitment and selection services in the placement of a new Administrator. Bids were due to be returned by 5PM July 8th. Copies of all the submittals have been distributed to the Council members.
Proposals were received by the deadline from the following six (6) firms:
MGT of America, Inc., Columbia, SC
MRA, Waukesha, WI
Public Administration Associates, LLC, Oshkosh, WI
Springsted, Inc., St. Paul, MN
Virchow Krause & Co, Milwaukee, WI
Waters-Oldani Executive Recruitment, division of Waters Consulting Grp, Inc., Dallas, TX
A seventh firm, Public Management Partners, LLC, had submitted a proposal prior to the June 20th meeting, and indicated the firm did not receive notification of the need to re-submit. They have requested that their original proposal be considered.
Fiscal Impact:
There is no fiscal impact for this action. At such time as a placement firm is engaged, costs will be determined based on the engagement contract, and could possibly be funded from unexpended funds within the Administrator’s 2005 department budget.
