Recommendation: 

That the Common Council adopt Ordinance #2359, An Ordinance Creating Section 2.46 (a)13, and Repealing and Recreating Section 2.45(j) and Section 2.47(d), relating to the establishment of the Position of Inspection Supervisor.

Background: 

At the Common Council meeting of June 5, 2005, the Council voted to concur with the recommendations of the Personnel Committee to revise the structure of management in the Inspection Department by creating the position of Inspection Supervisor, noting that this revision would not add a position.

As a first step in accomplishing the revision, Ordinance #2359 modifies the Municipal Code in pertinent sections, to reflect the change as approved by the Council, and establishes the non-union, non-Civil Service position of Inspection Supervisor.

In subsequent steps after approval of Ordinance #2359, the Personnel Committee will work with Administrative staff to develop a job description for the Council’s review and approval, develop a process to fill the position, and submit a salary ordinance for Council consideration.
