FIRE FIGHTER PETER J. JONCAS

Whereas, Peter J. Joncas became a member of the Oak Creek Fire Department on March 28, 1988; and

Whereas, Peter J. Joncas is a valued member of the Oak Creek Fire Department, and has provided emergency medical service in a caring and professional manner to the residents of Oak Creek; and

Whereas, Peter J. Joncas is a skilled fire fighter and is trained as a motor pump operator; and

Whereas, Peter J. Joncas has taken a leadership role in forming an honor guard for the Oak Creek Fire Department by recruiting members, developing policies, obtaining equipment and acting as drill master to train the members to provide a ceremonial presence at important events; and

Whereas, Peter J. Joncas consistently performs work over and above the requirements of his position; and

Whereas, Peter J. Joncas was commended for his help in the Oak Creek Fire Department Dispatch Center during the April 15, 2003 “Tax Day” fires by the Fire Chief; and

Whereas, Peter J. Joncas was seriously burned in an oxygen regulator fire and underwent numerous surgeries and a difficult rehabilitation in order to return to active firefighting; and

Whereas, Peter J. Joncas was recognized for his efforts by being named the American Legion’s Fire Fighter of the Year for the 4^th District and was presented with that award on November 13^th from the American Legion Post 434, Oak Creek, Wisconsin; and

Whereas, Peter J. Joncas was recognized for his efforts by being named the American Legion’s Fire Fighter of the year for the State of Wisconsin; and

Whereas, Peter J. Joncas will be presented with that award on July 16, 2005 at the American Legion’s State Convention in Wausau, Wisconsin.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Oak Creek, for and on behalf of the citizens of the City of Oak Creek, that sincere gratitude and appreciation be extended to Peter J. Joncas for his service to the City of Oak Creek and the Fire Department.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting and that the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a suitable copy thereof to Peter J. Joncas.
