City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date: April 19, 2005
Item No.: 5
Recommendation: That the Council adopt Ordinance No. 2345, approving the rezoning of portions of the properties at 1125 and 1025 E. College Avenue, 709 and 725 E. Oak Street from M-1, Manufacturing to P-1 Park.
Background: Milwaukee County is requesting that portions of the properties of 1125 & 1025 E. College Avenue, 709 E. Oak Street & part of 725 E. Oak Street be rezoned from M-1, Manufacturing to P-1, Park District. The County is requesting this to create an off-leash dog exercise area.
The hours of operation for the park would be limited to daytime hours as there will be no site lighting. There will be a gravel parking area that will have spaces for 45 cars. The only physical improvements that will occur if the rezoning is approved are the installation of a 45-space parking area, fencing around the park area, and 6-8 foot wide mulch pathways. Visitors will enter the dog park from an existing driveway from E. Rawson Avenue. There will be no access from E. Oak Street.
The Parks, Recreation and Forestry Commission and Plan Commission have reviewed this request, and have recommended their approval.
Fiscal Impact: None. The property would remain under the ownership of Milwaukee County, and therefore would continue to be tax-exempt.
