Recommendation:  No recommendation.  This is an informational presentation only on a proposed fire prevention code change.

Background:  A consortium was created by the cities of Oak Creek, Cudahy, Franklin, Greendale, Hales Corners, St. Francis, and South Milwaukee Fire Departments for the purpose of reviewing their respective fire prevention codes with the following goal:  to clarify and improve the respective fire prevention codes and at the same time to strive to eliminate confusion and differences that exists between the consortium communities fire prevention codes to assist architects, contractors, and developers that work in our cities.

Representatives from these cities have worked on this project over many months and have assembled the best elements of the respective codes and provided additional improvements to present a unified fire prevention code.  A copy of the proposed new fire prevention code was previously handed out for your review.

The cities of South Milwaukee and Greenfield have recently adopted their revised fire prevention code.

Fiscal Impact:  None at this time.
