Recommendation: That the Common Council accept the transfer of funds from the Oak Creek Veteran’s Memorial Committee in the approximate amount of $4,000.00.
Background: Construction of the Veteran’s Memorial is now complete. The committee has completed an audit of their books and is requesting the City of Oak Creek to accept the remaining funds, estimated to be between $4,000 and $5,000, to be used for ongoing care and maintenance of the memorial.
Accounting will set up a donation account which will be used to pay the ongoing costs of the memorial. The account will also accept public donations for the upkeep of the memorial. The ongoing memorial brick project will be handled through this account. The Fire Department has been assigned to be the stewards of this account; however, Mr. Gene Gosline has graciously agreed to assist the fire department with the brick project.
Fiscal Impact: The funds being transferred will be used for ongoing costs for the memorial. If the account becomes depleted over time the City would have to determine an alternate funding source.
