Recommendation: That the Common Council approve the filling of the newly-created Emergency Services Dispatch Supervisor position within the Police Department.
Background: During the 2005 budget process, the Police Department requested and received approval to create the position of Emergency Services Dispatch Supervisor. The Emergency Services Dispatch Supervisor will be a working dispatcher, permanently assigned to second shift, with supervisory responsibilities. Those supervisory duties will be to oversee all second shift Emergency Services Dispatchers as well as assist in the overall supervision of the Emergency Services Dispatch Center, reporting directly to the Administrative Support Bureau Manager. While this position is a newly-created position, it is not an additional position. This position will be filled through the promotion of an existing member of the Dispatch Unit. This item was reviewed and recommended by the Personnel Committee at their meeting on 1/11/05.
Fiscal Impact: A salary range of $44,149-$57,640 with a starting salary of $51,605 was established by Ordinance 2333. Wages and benefits for this position are included in the Police Department’s 2005 budget for full-times salaries.
