Recommendation:  That the Common Council give prior authorization to hire a replacement Public Health Nurse (PNH) position totaling 750 hours per year.

Background: One of the current PHN’s has been on limited duty this fall due to health related problems. If she is unable to return to work with the health department, that position would need to be filled for 750 hours per year. Staff PHN’s have been attempting to “cover” assignments but are becoming “burned out”.

The Personnel Committee approved this request at their meeting on January 11^th to fill the position, if needed. We have applications on file from this past summer so there is not a need to advertise the position.

Fiscal Impact:  The salary range for a PHN is $17.75-$23.75 per hour; the starting wage would be towards the lower end of the range. The position includes pension benefits.
