City of Oak Creek

Common Council Report

Meeting DateSept. 7, 2004

Item No.:         4

Recommendation:  That the Council reallocate the City’s unexpended CDBG funds from prior years to the following projects:

Project

Approximate Cost

Voting site – handicapped accessibility improvements

$3800

Reimbursement for real estate acquisition for the remediation of the former AC spur track in the Carrollville neighborhood

$5000

Background:  The Council is being requested to authorize the use of unexpended Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for their use in two different projects.

The first is a project to improve handicapped access at voting sites by installing automatic doors at both the Library and the Cedar Hills School.  The cost of these improvements is approximately $3000.

The second is a reimbursement of $5000 in City funds that were used to purchase real estate for the AC Spur Track remediation project in the Carrollville neighborhood.

In order to authorize the use of CDBG funding for these projects, the City must first hold a public hearing.  As of September 2, 2004 there was over $150,000 in unexpended funds from previous projects  This does not include any funds that may be unexpended from ongoing projects.

Fiscal Impact:  There is adequate funding available for these projects through the City’s unexpended CDBG funds from previous years.
