City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date: September 21, 2004
Item No.:
Recommendation: That the Common Council consider a motion to authorize the purchase of materials and the Street Department install a split rail fence around the Shepard Hills detention basin and transfer $12,000 from Project No. 02034 to Project No. 00037 (5th Aldermanic District).
Background: This report has been prepared at the request of the 5th District Alderperson. The installation of a split rail fence around the detention basin will delineate the natural buffer area required by the DNR permit issued for the pond construction. The 50-foot wide buffer area is mowed only once per year and the rest of the parcel is mowed routinely when needed. The fence is proposed to be a 2 rail fence approximately three feet in height with posts every 10 feet. The fence will be approximately 1,550 feet long. It is proposed that the materials for the fence will be purchased and installed by the Street Department.
Fiscal Impact: Total cost is estimated at $12,000. Material costs are estimated to be $8,000 and Street Department labor costs are estimated to be $4,000. The project will be funded through Project No. 00037. $12,000 will need to be transferred from Project No. 02034 to Project No. 00037.
