Recommendation: That the Common Council approves hiring an emergency services dispatcher to fill a vacant position.

 

 

Background: On July 14, 2004, a probationary emergency services dispatcher was released prior to satisfactory completion of employment probation. It is very important that this critical position be replaced as quickly as possible as the vacancy severely impacts the already short-staffed Dispatch Center.

 

Note: The Personnel Committee will be meeting immediately prior to the Council meeting to discuss this issue.  At this time it is anticipated that the committee will concur with the request.  If there is a change, it will be discussed at the Council meeting.

 

Fiscal Impact:  Wages and benefits for this position are included in the Police Department’s 2004 budget Account 60-100 for full-time salaries.
