Recommendation:  That the Council adopt Ordinance No. 2307 approving a rezoning of the property at 552 W. Rawson Avenue from B-4, Highway Business to I-1, Institutional.

Background: On October 21st of last year the Common Council voted to authorize the use of the property at 552 W. Rawson Avenue as the site of a veteran’s memorial.

This action changes the zoning on that site from B-4, Highway Business to I-1, Institutional.  This zoning is more appropriate for a memorial, and matches the zoning on the remainder of the City-owned lands (Fire Station #3) to the north.

The Plan Commission has reviewed this proposal, and has recommended its approval (see attached minutes).

Fiscal Impact:  This rezoning would preclude the commercial development of this property.
