Recommendation: That the Common Council consider a motion to award E. Oakwood Road Box Culvert Replacements contract to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, C.W. Purpero, Inc. (Project No. 04020).

Background: As part of the 2004 annual paving project, E. Oakwood Road is going to be resurfaced with asphalt. The existing box culverts are deteriorated and will be replaced with new box culverts before the road is resurfaced this fall.

The Engineering Division prepared the plans and specifications for the project and the work was advertised. The following three bids were received:

Jerry’s Grading	$59,950.00
Travis Brothers	$64,881.00

Fiscal Impact: There are sufficient funds available in the Unspecified Streets account for the project.
