City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Item No.:11
Recommendation: That the Common Council accept the recommendation of the Personnel Committee and adopt Resolution 10381-060104, establishing the City’s Harassment and Discrimination in the Workplace Policy, as attached.
Background: For the past three years the employee Safety Committee has been reviewing many policies and procedures in coordination with representatives of Cities and Villages Mutual Insurance Company (CVMIC), the city’s insurance carrier for liability, auto, and worker’s compensation. The Safety Committee recommended that the Personnel Committee consider adopting the revised harassment policy in an effort to limit the city’s employment liability exposure. Modifications were made based upon suggestions from the city’s labor attorney and were incorporated into the attached document.
Fiscal Impact: Implementing this policy would not have any direct cost to the city other than for training, but would likely reduce cost by limiting the city’s exposure to harassment claims.
Respectfully submitted,
Ann Lampe
