Recommendation:  That the Common Council consider a motion to award the Oak Creek Recycling Yard project to the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder, Payne and Dolan, in the estimated amount of $589,221.05 (Project No. 00019) (2nd Aldermanic District).

 

Background:  The proposed yard will move from the Street Department garage to 720 W. Puetz Road.  The project includes asphalt pavement with concrete pads for the material containers and two compactor pits.  The project also includes new utilities for the existing building and new storm sewer.  The storm water quality will be taken care of with the installation of a Stormceptor.  The bids include two new compactors and four new containers, and due to the high cost of the compactors and containers the Street Department is looking into alternatives. 

 

The Engineering Division prepared the plans and specifications for the project and the work was advertised.  The following two bids were received:

Fiscal ImpactDuring the 2000 and 2004 budget processes, the Common Council allocated $620,000 from the CIP fund.
