City of Oak Creek

Common Council Report

Meeting Date: May 4, 2004

Item No.:         3

Recommendation:  To concur with the recommendation of the Traffic and Safety Commission and retain the “No Right Turn” signs at the exits of Tanglewood Apartments onto S. 22nd Street.

BackgroundThe request was discussed at the Traffic and Safety Commission meeting on April 14, 2004.  The Common Council approved the installation of the “No Right Turn” signs at the November 4, 2002 meeting.  The signs were addressed again at the December 17, 2002 Common Council meeting and it was determined that they would be reevaluated after the signals on Ryan Road were installed. The signs were installed in an attempt to control speeding along W. Hilltop Lane.  There is no evidence, from the traffic studies done before and after the installation of the signs, that the signs have reduced the number of cars on Hilltop Lane or reduced the speed.

Fiscal Impact:  None.
