Item No. 12

Recommendation:  That the Council authorize staff to release a request for proposals for a sub-area plan for the 27th Street corridor.

Background:  On March 2, 2004, the Common Council authorized the Community Development Authority to pursue preparation of a development plan for the S. 27th Street corridor.

This draft request for proposals has been reviewed and approved by the Community Development Authority.  It is staff’s request that the Council allow for the release of this RFP.

Once the responses have been received, the Community Development Authority will review them and make a recommendation to the Common Council on the preferred course of action.

In reading the draft RFP, you will note that the dates and schedules have been left blank.  These will be completed upon authorization by the Council to release the RFP.

Fiscal Impact:  The cost will be negotiated with the firm selected to complete the plan.  $25,000 has been set aside in the Economic Development Fund for consultant services.
