City of Oak Creek

Common Council Report

Meeting DateApril 5, 2004

                                                                                     Item No.:        9

Recommendation:  That the Common Council adopt Ordinance No. 2302, an ordinance establishing the marking of the corner stakes of one and two-family residential buildings during construction.

Background: This ordinance will provide contractors and residential property owners with a visual reference while grading and landscaping, to prevent encroaching on a neighboring property or the public right-of-way.  This will also help to educate new home owners as to the spatial extent of their lot, minimizing the number of instances where new homeowners must remove landscaping or other work they have caused to be done on someone else’s property.  The ordinance also should help homeowners and contractors meet and maintain approved grades.

Fiscal Impact:  None.
