Recommendation:  That the Council authorizes the Community Development Authority to pursue preparation of a development plan for S. 27th Street and report back to the Council with an outline and budget for such a plan.

Background:  The Community Development Authority is looking for Common Council concurrence on a proposal to begin preliminary work on a development plan for the S. 27th Street corridor as part of a more focused effort to stimulate economic development within the City.

This request is one part of a broader effort by the CDA to focus its efforts on initiatives that will produce more tangible results.  As such, the CDA is looking to the Council to support the CDA in the implementation of the economic development objectives of the adopted comprehensive plan.

Fiscal Impact:  This specific action does not have any direct fiscal impact.  However, as the planning process proceeds, it is likely that costs will be incurred as approved by the Common Council.
