Recommendation:  That the Council approve the hiring of a fulltime GIS Technician to fill the existing vacant GIS technician at a starting hourly wage of $16.402 per hour (per Local 133 Union Contract).

 

Background:  The Common Council in the 2004 City budget approved the hiring of a full time GIS Technician to replace the existing ¾ time technician.  The change from a part time to a fulltime position is part of the Community Development and IT/GIS personnel realignment as approved in the budget.  The job description is attached.

 

In accordance with the October 7th, 2003 resolution approving a review and authorization process on hiring and promotions for the City, a request is being made to approve the hiring of this candidate.

 

Fiscal Impact:  This position is budgeted for in the 2004 budget.
