Recommendation:

That the Common Council approve the Employee-Requested Changes to Work Schedule policy.

 

Background:

In response to several inquiries about a standardized method for reviewing a request by an employee to temporarily change his/her work schedule for various reasons, the Personnel Committee has developed a comprehensive statement of policy. (A copy of the policy is attached.)  This policy statement has also been reviewed by the City Attorney and the City’s labor attorney.

This policy would apply only to specific public-contact departments within City Hall and would ensure that fair and consistent consideration is given to any employee requesting a work schedule change.

At their 3/9/04 meeting, the Personnel Committee recommended approval of the policy as presented.
