Recommendation

That the Common Council authorize the transfer of approximately $6,500 from the 2003 Control Account to Project 03028, 2004 Citywide Revaluation.

 

Background:

A citywide revaluation has now been completed for 2004, with the new values to appear on the 2004 tax bills.  The contract for revaluation services with CLT was awarded for the fixed cost amount of $109,000, and has now been completed.   To fund that cost, the Council approved amounts of $35,000 in 2003 and $46,000 in 2004, to be added to the balance of approximately $28,000 remaining in the 2001 revaluation project account. 

Costs for mailing the notices and secondary notices, copies, printing and office supplies, have now been determined to be approximately $6,500.  Since these costs are directly related to the revaluation, it is appropriate for them to be attributed to the project rather than to the Assessor’s department budget.  For that reason, a transfer to the project from the 2003 Control Account is being requested.
