Recommendation:  That the Common Council approve a five-year extension to the current recycling agreement with Waste Management, effective 1/1/05.

Background:  This issue was discussed with the Common Council during recent budget discussions.  The savings as part of this five-year agreement, in the first year alone of $45,120.00, reflect the Mayor’s initial effort, as well as the effort of Street Department staff to negotiate a lower rate.

Fiscal Impact:  The costs for years 2005 through 2009 are reflected on the attached memo from Street Superintendent Bill Schaper.
