City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date: November 16, 2004
Item No.: 11
Recommendation: That the Common Council adopts Resolution No. 10429-111604, accepting a water main easements for the Water Utility’s transmission main project (3rd Aldermanic District).
Background: The easements are necessary for the installation of a transmission water main outside of existing street rights-of-way. These easements provide for crossing the County properties between 15th Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue. The alignment chosen minimizes the street excavation and associated disruptions and pavement patches. This also reduces the overall construction costs. This water main is identified in stage 1 of the Utility’s master plan and is needed to reinforce the existing water main network, improve reliability, and reduce increasing pumping costs by providing a lower resistance path within the network.
The Oak Creek Water & Sewer Utility is prepared to install a transmission main from Chicago Road to Nicholson Road to connect to a transmission main recently installed in Nicholson Road.
There are no special assessments for this project because it is a transmission main project and benefit will generally not be received by abutting property owners. The Water and Sewer Utility will fund the project. The proposed water main route is depicted on the attached map.
Fiscal Impact: None.
