Recommendation:  That the Common Council approve the filling of the municipal Design Engineer position.

Background:  This vacancy occurred when the incumbent accepted a position with the Oak Creek Water and Sewer Utility.  This position has been funded in the 2004 Budget.

Primary responsibilities include supervision of and review of design projects, maintenance of standards, assessment calculations, grant procurement and management relating to transportation, traffic counts, transportation planning, and traffic and safety committee. 

Fiscal Impact:  The salary range for this position (2003) is $58,866 to $73,583
