Minutes, License Committee
Tuesday, August 26, 2003, 4:00 p.m.
- This meeting was called to order at 4:05 p.m. Present were: Ald. Foeckler,
Ald. Grabowski, Ald. Koehler, Deputy Clerk Pam Bauer and Justin Lehrke, representing
Aldi Foods.
- Justin Lehrke advised the committee that the intent of Aldi was
to provide 4-5 premium beers and 8-10 different wines at their 27th Street
location. Aldi is a limited assortment grocer and they do not intend to
become a full-scale liquor store. They have limited hours of operation,
9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, except Friday, which is
open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and are closed on Sunday. All employees
are required to be at least 18 years of age. Ald. Koehler, seconded by
Ald. Grabowski, moved to grant an original “Class A” Combination license
to Aldi, Inc., Scott Thomas, Agent, for the Aldi store at 6810 S. 27th St. All
voted aye; motion carried.
- Ald. Foeckler, seconded by Ald. Koehler, moved to grant a run/walk
license to the Basilica of St. Josaphat Youth Group for 9/27/03. All voted
aye; motion carried.
- A brief discussion was held on scheduling of future meetings. The
committee agreed that for routine items such as bartender applications,
no meeting would be necessary. As has been past practice, a meeting would
be scheduled for any new liquor license applications and for any questionable
license applications/issues. The committee would like to have a representative
present for any new liquor license requests.
Ald. Foeckler, seconded by Ald. Grabowski, moved to adjourn this
meeting at 4:26 p.m. All voted aye; motion carried.
