Recommendation: To disband the ad hoc Veterans’ Memorial Committee and to authorize the issuance of a check in the amount of $80.00 payable to the newly-formed Oak Creek All Veterans’ Memorial Committee as reimbursement for prior donations made to the memorial fund.
Background: At the meeting of August 11, 2003, the ac hoc group voted to request the Common Council disband the ad hoc Veterans’ Memorial Committee. Because of the temporary nature of an ad hoc committee, it was not possible to get liability insurance for fundraising events. The committee concurred with the concerns of the Common Council that the City should not be financially responsible for the efforts necessary to make this memorial a reality. This group shall be named the Oak Creek All Veterans’ Memorial Committee and will continue to work towards this goal. The committee will still be approaching the City regarding a site for the memorial.
Fiscal Impact: There is no fiscal impact other than the reimbursement of $80.00 in prior donations to the new committee.
