COUNCIL PROCLAMATION 03-24

 

RECOGNITION TO TERESA RICHMOND

FOR HER PROMPT ACTION IN A FIRE

ON MAY 28, 2003 AT THE CEDAR HILLS ESTATES CONDOMINIUMS

 

 

WHEREAS, the Oak Creek Fire Department is dedicated to the safety of life and property from the devastating effects of fire; and

 

WHEREAS, early warning signs of fire must be taken seriously and a quick, decisive response is often what makes the difference between life and death in a fire; and

 

WHEREAS, TERESA RICHMOND, by her prompt action in being the first person to call 9-1-1 to alert the Fire Department to a deadly fire in the Cedar Hills Estates Condominiums which started in the early morning hours of May 28, 2003, and which sadly took the life of one person; and

 

WHEREAS, the Oak Creek Fire Department has conveyed to TERESA RICHMOND that had she not called 9-1-1 when she did, that additional lives could have been lost, as well as the entire building.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Oak Creek hereby applaud TERESA RICHMOND for her efforts and citizenship for the quick action which prevented the additional loss of life and property.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this proclamation be spread upon the minutes of this meeting and the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed to transmit a suitable copy thereof to TERESA RICHMOND.
