City of Oak Creek

Common Council Report

Meeting Date:           May 6, 203

Item No.:

             29

Recommendation:  That the Common Council adopt Ordinance No. 2247 creating a woodland preservation ordinance

Background:  Based upon direction received from the Mayor, staff has prepared an ordinance that would establish standards for woodland preservation in the City of Oak Creek.

This ordinance would only apply to those lands that fall within primary and secondary environmental corridors, SEWRPC natural areas and critical species habitats.  A map illustrating these areas is attached as part of this Council report.

Staff recognizes that a more comprehensive ordinance may be desirable.  As such, it is anticipated that this be an interim ordinance until such an ordinance can be researched, discussed and drafted.

The City Forester has reviewed the language in this ordinance.

Fiscal Impact:  There will be costs to developers and property owners associated with compliance with this ordinance.
