Common Council Report

Meeting Date05/06/03

Item No.:         16

RecommendationThat the Common Council approve the purchase of a Tom Cat 2500 Floor Scrubber from Bonded Chemical Co. for the new police facility in the amount of $6,295.

BackgroundThe new police facility has a large expanse of floors that will need to be maintained and cleaned daily. The best method to accomplish this task in a timely and efficient manner is with the use of a walk-behind floor scrubber. A walk-behind scrubber will wet scrub and vacuum dry the floors in one pass, leaving them clean, dry and safe for immediate use.

Three quotes for a 26” walk-behind, battery powered floor scrubber were obtained, with Bonded Chemical Co. having the lowest-priced product. The Tom Cat 2500 is a highly maneuverable scrubber that is easy to operate and maintain. Its use will dramatically reduce the time that maintenance personnel will spend cleaning the floors in new police station.

Fiscal ImpactThe total cost of the Tom Cat 2500 walk-behind floor scrubber, including delivery, set-up, and optional scrub brushes for ceramic tile and concrete is $6,295. Monies were included in the police construction project #01006 for this purchase.
