Recommendation: That the Common Council consider a motion to award the E. Puetz Road Reconstruction unit price contract to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Payne & Dolan, Inc., in the estimated amount of $347,390.25 (Project No. 00027, 3rd Aldermanic District).
Background: The project entails reconstruction of E. Puetz Road from S. Howell Avenue to S. Shepard Avenue including reconstruction of the medians with new left-turn lanes, reconstruction of the travel lanes with asphalt pavement, selected deficient curb replacements on the exterior lanes, reconstruction of private entrances, utility adjustments, pavement markings, and restoration.
The Engineering Division prepared the plans and specifications for the project and the work was advertised. The following three bids were received:

This is a unit price contract. Thus, the bids were evaluated based on estimated quantities.
Fiscal Impact: Funding for this project will come from funds reserved in the 2000 and 2001 CIP. Property owners will be assessed the costs of their private entrance reconstructions.
