City of Oak Creek
Common Council Report
Meeting Date: 3/31/03
Item No.: 11
Recommendation: That the Common Council consider a motion to award the construction of the Shepard Hills Detention Basin Project, to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, C.W. Purpero, Inc., in the estimated amount of $313,873.50 (Project No. 00037) (5th Aldermanic District).
Background: The analysis of alternatives for resolving the flooding problems in the Shepard Hills area resulted in the recommendation of constructing a detention basin west of S. Shepard Avenue. The detention basin should reduce upstream flooding by about 3 feet while reducing downstream peak flows by 20%. The existing Quail Run detention basin will be expanded from its current surface area of 0.3 acres to a surface area of about 2.5 acres. R.A. Smith and Associates prepared plans and specifications for the project, the work was advertised, and the following 13 bids were received.
