Recommendation:  That the Common Council authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a contract with Milwaukee County for Paramedic service for the years 2004, and 2005.

Background:  The contracts between Milwaukee County and the fire departments hosting paramedic units expire at the end of 2003.  Negotiations between the County and the ICC representing the paramedic hosts have been ongoing for months.  The contract before the Council at this time is the consensus document worked out between the Fire Chiefs and Milwaukee County.  It is now going to the hosts for their approval.

In the previous contract, the City of Oak Creek had a separate contract that had different terms from the other agencies.  Under this proposal, the City of Oak Creek has the same contract and financial arrangements as the other units in the paramedic system.

Fiscal Impact:  The exact amount of the funding is not known at this time.  The City’s revenue from this contract should increase by at least $250,000 from the present contract.
