Recommendation:  That the Council approve the recruitment of a Library Services Assistant to replace the Secretary/Bookkeeper upon her retirement.

 

Background:  At their meeting of September 22, 2003, the Librarian informed the Personnel Committee that the Secretary/Bookkeeper was expected to retire in November and proposed a change in job title and duties to reflect the increase in public service tasks.  The new job description is attached as well as the proposed costs for the position.

 

In accordance with the October 7th resolution approving a review and authorization process on hiring and promotions for the City, a request is being made to approve the start of this recruitment process.

 

Fiscal Impact:  The revised position is expected to save the city approximately $5,000.
