Recommendation: That the Common Council declare the following ad-hoc committees “inactive” and removed from the list of active boards/commissions/committees, but reserve the right to re-establish each group, if necessary:
ad hoc Comprehensive Plan Update Committee
ad hoc Police Station Future Needs Committee
ad hoc Storm Water Master Plan Working Committee
ad hoc Woodgate Development Committee
ad hoc Blue Ribbon Volunteer/Paid-On-Call Firefighters Study Committee
Background: Ad hoc committees are generally established to handle or examine a specific issue or reach a particular goal. These committees should be inactivated since their missions have been either accomplished or indefinitely put on hold. Following is a brief description of the status of each committee listed above.
ad hoc Comprehensive Plan Update Committee
Formed in August of 1997, this committee, along with regular Plan Commission members, was to review and recommend an update to the 1985 Comprehensive Plan. A public hearing was held on 12/19/00 to obtain citizen comment. Ordinance No. 2090, approving the update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan was adopted on 4/1/02.
ad hoc Police Station Future Needs Committee
Formed in August of 1999, this committee was to research the space needs of the present police facility and make recommendations regarding that facility. The committee completed their work, with the last meeting in 8/01. The new police station project is now complete.
ad hoc Storm Water Master Plan Working Committee
This committee, formed in September 1995, oversaw the progress and accepted the final draft report of the citywide storm water master plan as prepared by R. A. Smith & Associates. At a special meeting on 12/10/01, the Council adopted Resolution No. 10032-121001, which approved the Storm Water Master Plan.
ad hoc Woodgate Development Committee
This committee was formed in August of 2002 to address adjacent property owner concerns regarding the Atlas Affordable Housing project known as the Woodgate Development. At the 11/19/02 Council meeting, a public hearing was held and Ordinance No. 2225, approving a general development plan and amending the conditions and restrictions for Atlas Real Estate Group, was adopted by the Council.
ad hoc Blue Ribbon Volunteer/Paid-On-Call Firefighters Study Committee
Established in February 2003, this committee was to study the merits of utilizing volunteers/paid-on-call personnel to the assist the Oak Creek Fire Department. Their final report was presented to the Council on 6/3/03 and no formal action was taken.
