COUNCIL PROCLAMATION NO. 03-30

CONGRATULATIONS TO

COLONEL ROBERT A. GUALTIERI

WHEREAS, Colonel Robert A. Gualtieri has served as the Commander of the 440^th Operations Group at General Mitchell International Airport Air Reserve Station from October 1997 to May 2002 and from August 2002 to the present; and

WHEREAS, during his career, Colonel Robert A. Gualtieri flew tactical airlift missions throughout the Pacific and Southeast Asia and was one of the initial cadre that started the Pacific Airlift Control Center at Clark Air Base, Philippines; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Robert A. Gualtieri spent 15 years in Air Force Special Operations, having flown MC-130E Combat Talon, AC-130A Spectre Gunship and the MC-130P Combat Shadow; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Robert A. Gualtieri received the Reserve Officers Association Aircrew of the Year Award in 1991 when his crew successfully landed an AC-130 gunship after losing complete hydraulic pressure to the flight controls; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Robert A. Gualtieri organized and commanded many combined deployments for training in Central and South America and has been a deployed mission commander or Operations Officer for numerous exercises and contingencies such as Operations Just Cause, Uphold Democracy, and Joint Endeavor; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Robert A. Gualtieri is retiring after giving more than 30 years of distinguished service to his country, both Active Duty, Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Command; and

WHEREAS, Colonel Robert A. Gualtieri will be honored for his illustrious career and dedicated service to our Great Nation at a retirement ceremony on Saturday, October 4, 2003.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Oak Creek for and on behalf of the citizens of the City of Oak Creek, that sincere congratulations and best wishes be extended to Colonel Robert A. Gualtieri upon his retirement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be and she is hereby directed to transmit a suitable copy of this proclamation to Colonel Robert A. Gualtieri.
